The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to take strict action against the teachers who participated in a sit-in protest, staged at Jinnah Park in the provincial capital of Peshawar.

The teachers’ protest, which started on November 5, continued today, which led to the closure of primary schools for the second consecutive day across the province including Peshawar. Hundreds of primary school teachers gathered to press for their post upgradation demand.

According to the details, the KP govt has decided to suspend the teachers who were absent from schools and participated in the protest. Govt maintained that teachers challenged government writs by closing schools.

The director of education has directed all the district education officers to take immediate action in this regard.

On the other hand, teachers have responded to the govt’s decision and said that they are not afraid of suspension and reiterated to continue the protest. “We have sacrificed for demands before and will continue to do so,” teachers asserted.

President All Primary Teachers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that no primary school will open until the demands are approved.
