The Green Tractor Balloting Scheme 2024 was officially unveiled by Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, on Friday during a balloting event held in Lahore.
This effort symbolizes the beginning of new mechanisation in agriculture, which reflects further boosting of local farmers with modernity.
Back after a 12-year lapse, the Green Tractor Scheme provides the farmers 8 per cent subsidy of Rs10 lakh each on 9,500 tractors; it was launched with this nine-month development plan. CM Maryam Nawaz indicated her resolve to ‘inaugurate a new epoch of agriculture mechanisation in Punjab’ so that farmers can be put into modern ordinary farming practices.
Details of the Green Tractor Balloting results
After digital balloting, Mohammad Yasin, son of Mohammad Ashraf from Okara, was fortunate enough to be the first farmer to win a green tractor; Talib Hussain from Chakwal and Ghulam Akbar from Dera Ghazi Khan were also amongst the lucky ones. The scheme would distribute a total of 339 tractors in Okara, 111 in Chakwal, and 276 in Dera Ghazi Khan, thus benefiting several families and empowering the community of farmers.
Besides digital balloting, Maryam Nawaz announced the allocation of 1,000 green tractors to poor, hardworking wheat growers on land 25 to 50 acres in size by means of a lucky draw, in a further effort to encourage mechanization among small-scale farmers and affirming that Punjab is committed to agriculture.
CM Nawaz inspected four different types of green tractors available under the scheme, highlighting their features and capabilities. She took a ride on one of the tractors, showcasing the new machinery’s potential for enhancing productivity on farms.
