Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad this week.
According to media reports, the minister will discuss the current Middle East crisis and seek Pakistan’s advice and support.
When Israel attacked Iran, Pakistan made it clear that Israel bore the responsibility of current tensions and urged the UN Security Council to keep a check on Israel’s “recklessness and criminal behaviour.”
Tensions between Iran and Israel
After decades of shadow war, the two arch-rivals are now openly targeting each other.
Israel has said its air strikes on Iran on October 26 were in retaliation for a major ballistic missile attack by Tehran on October 1.
The Iranian attack, which involved about 200 missiles, was launched after Israeli assaults in recent months that killed leaders of Hezbollah, Hamas and the Iranian military.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also warned Israel and the United States of “a crushing response” for actions against Iran and its allies, according to state media.
