LAHORE: Lahore city air quality reached alarming high air pollution levels, with the city’s air quality index hit 1067 on Saturday.
According to the global website Air Quality Index, Lahore is still at the first place in the list of the most polluted cities, where the record of air pollution has been broken.
The Punjab government has imposed green lockdown to minimize the impact of smog in the city. However, the Lahore city’s air quality reached to alarming high levels despite green lockdown in 11 areas of Lahore.
The amount of pollution in the atmosphere of Lahore has been recorded as 1067 particulate meters.
Apart from Lahore, the intensity of smog has also increased in Multan and its surroundings.
According to AQI, the Indian city of Kolkata is the second most polluted city and the Indian capital Delhi is the third.
On the other hand, it has been said in the report that the previous years’ record of air pollution in Lahore has also been broken.

Environmentalists say that citizens should avoid going out in the current atmosphere, children, elderly and sick people should prefer to stay at home.
According to the environmentalist, this atmosphere is harmful for the citizens as well as the animals, birds and plants.
