Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, held a press conference in Islamabad alongside other PTI leaders to provide updates on the party’s founder, Imran Khan, after meeting him in jail.
Barrister Gohar confirmed that he met with Imran Khan for 45 minutes and that the former Prime Minister is in good health.
During the press briefing, Barrister Gohar revealed that Imran Khan spoke about the conditions in his jail for the first time since his imprisonment.
He disclosed that Khan’s cell had no electricity for five days, and for the past two weeks, he has been denied access to newspapers and television. Imran Khan is allowed to leave his cell for only two and a half hours daily.
Despite the harsh conditions, Barrister Gohar highlighted that Imran Khan remains hopeful and resolute. “Imran Khan has a message for the nation: even if I have to spend 100 years in this jail, I will continue to fight for the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law. I will not let the people down,” Gohar quoted him as saying.
Gohar also condemned the treatment of Khan in jail, describing it as a severe violation of his constitutional and legal rights. He called for better conditions and urged that the PTI leader be granted the basic facilities he is entitled to. He expressed concern over the isolation Khan is being subjected to in a small cell.
