Federal Board of Revenue Chairman, Rashid Langrial, has announced that strict actions against non-filers will commence after November 1.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Langrial stated that the number of income tax returns filed has surpassed 4 million, doubling from last year.

The chairman also highlighted that the deadline for filing income tax returns will not be extended. The final date for submission is October 14, 2024.

Langrial further warned that FBR has comprehensive data on non-filers, and large-scale operations against them are planned for November. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s directive to take firm action against tax evaders.

Additionally, FBR has abolished the “non-filers” category and introduced 15 restrictions on those who evade taxes. Five of these will be enforced initially, including bans on property and vehicle transactions, international travel, opening current accounts, and investing in mutual funds.
