Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is set to celebrate its incarcerated founder, Imran Khan’s birthday in Lahore at Minar-e-Pakistan today (Saturday).
Talking to Dawn, the party’s leader Shayan Bashir said the party has plans to celebrate Khan’s birthday on October 5 and pass a resolution for “Haqeeqi Azadi“.
After Islamabad, PTI is all set to protest in provincial capital to demand a cut in inflation, independence of judiciary and release of party founder Imran Khan.
On Friday, PTI supporters came out to protest in the capital which resulted in many arrests. Imran Khan’s sisters also got arrested yesterday.

Govt’s response to PTI protest:
Meanwhile, the police barricaded all the entry and exit points of the provincial capital by placing containers,
The government has also decided to use state machinery and all legal tools to crush the Lahore protest.
Section 144 has been enforced in Lahore, slapping a ban on rallies, gatherings, sit-ins and other political activities. It will remain in force in Lahore until October 8th
All police stations in Lahore are on high alert and instructed to patrol and arrest those found violating the ban on gatherings.
As per reports, the police have set up hundreds of pickets on different city roads, including Liberty Roundabout, Ravi Road, Jail Road, The Mall, Ferozepur Road and Gulberg’s Main Boulevard as part of security measures.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz also held meetings with the chief secretary, home secretary and IGP, asking them for a strong crackdown against the PTI supporters coming out on roads.
