Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and will officially take charge of his duties on September 30.

According to details, Lt. Gen. Asim Malik is currently serving as the Adjutant General at General Headquarters (GHQ). His career is marked by several key postings, including command of an infantry division in Balochistan and an infantry brigade in Waziristan, both critical areas in Pakistan’s defense strategy.

Lt. Gen. Malik is also recognized for his academic and instructional contributions. He has served as Chief Instructor at the National Defence University (NDU) and was an instructor at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.

He earned the prestigious Sword of Honour during his military course and has pursued further education, graduating from Fort Leavenworth in the United States and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom.

His appointment comes at a crucial time, with many security challenges ahead, and he is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the top intelligence post.
