In a recent development, domestic consumers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) will not benefit from the electricity relief package announced by the Punjab government for September. Reports indicate that consumers in Islamabad will be excluded from the relief of Rs14 per unit.
The notification from IESCO confirms that relief will not be applied to September’s bills for Islamabad consumers.
For September, IESCO bills will be issued based on the rates effective from July 1. It has also been reported that IESCO has not yet received funds for the relief provided in August.
The relief package, which offered a subsidy of Rs14 per unit for domestic consumers using between 201 and 500 units, was not extended to federal consumers due to IMF conditions, sources have confirmed. However, the subsidy for Punjab consumers will remain in effect until September 30.
