Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Secretary Rana Mujahid disclosed in a recent press conference held in Lahore, that three national hockey players and a physio have applied for political asylum abroad.
According to Rana Mujahid, the PHF has imposed a lifetime ban on these individuals due to their unauthorised departure from the country.
He mentioned that the federation received information about the players’ asylum requests. The three players and the physio had traveled with the national team to Poland and the Netherlands for the Nations Cup.
Moreover, upon returning, they did not join the training camp, leading to the discovery that they had left the country without informing the federation.

In addition, the players involved are Murtaza Yaqoob, Ehtisham Aslam, and Abdul Rehman, along with physio Waqas. Rana Mujahid announced that the PHF has decided to cancel their passports and has written to the Ministry of Interior for this purpose. Additionally, relevant departments have been informed of the situation.
Furthermore, Rana Mujahid added that while the exact destination of the players is unknown, their teammates have confirmed that they have left the country. The players had falsely claimed that they could not attend the camp due to family commitments.
