Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari said he recently received an electricity bill of Rs 32 lakh.

Speaking to the media, he shared that this staggering bill covers the cost for all eight of his tube wells.

During the talk, the minister also became visibly frustrated during a lengthy inquiry about the unfair slab system. Addressing the journalist who posed the question, Leghari responded sharply, suggesting they either ask questions without making speeches or come up to the podium.

Leghari also stated that changes to Independent Power Producers (IPP) contracts can only be made with mutual agreement between the government and IPPs.

The minister emphasised that electricity theft is intolerable for both the state and its citizens, and he assured that companies would be given more freedom to combat electricity theft effectively.
