K-Electric has dismissed reports circulating in some media outlets of a Rs 5.76 per unit increase in electricity tariffs, labeling them as inaccurate.

According to a company spokesperson, the actual increase will be 99 paisa per unit in September and Rs. 2.59 per unit in October.

The spokesperson explained that, as per NEPRA’s (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) decision, the Fuel Charge Adjustment (FCA) will be applied over a two-month period. The FCA for May will be implemented in October, while the FCA for June will be reflected in November’s bills.

In October, the final increase in electricity tariffs will amount to Rs. 1.59 per unit. For November, the FCA will rise to Rs. 3.16 per unit, resulting in a 58 paisa per unit increase compared to October.
