With preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025 in full swing, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has defended the board’s decision to upgrade the Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi venues, stating that none of the stadiums in the country currently meet international standards.

“There’s a significant difference between international stadiums and ours […] none of our stadiums is of international standard,” Naqvi said during a media briefing on his visit to review the upgradation work at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

The PCB chief’s remarks follow the board’s decision to renovate Karachi’s National Stadium, Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium, and Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium at a cost of Rs12.8 billion. These upgrades are being made in preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by these venues.
