Saudi Arabia Announces Extension of Fee Exemption for Foreign Workers in the Industrial Sector

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef expressed gratitude for the continuous support of King Salman and the Crown Prince, stating that the extension of the fee exemption will further strengthen the industrial sector.

Al-Khorayef mentioned that more employment opportunities will be created, and Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports will increase. He stated that this exemption is playing a crucial role in transforming the industrial sector of Saudi Arabia.

Since its inception, the number of industrial establishments has increased from 8,822 to 11,868 by April 2024. Employment in this sector has also seen a significant rise, with a 57% increase, while the localization rate has climbed to 32%.

It should be noted that the fee imposition on foreign workers began on January 1, 2018, wherein institutions with an equal number of foreign and Saudi workers were required to start paying a monthly fee of 300 Riyals. The decision to extend this exemption is effective until December 31, 2024.
