The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education recently announced the results for the Class 9th examinations.
According to the official report, a total of 287,000 candidates participated in the exams this year. Zahid Mian, the controller of examinations for the Lahore board, stated that over 127,000 students passed their exams, while 159,000 students did not clear them.

The overall success rate for this year’s Class IX exams is 44%, showing a 6% drop from last year’s results. According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), citing Lahore board sources, the 159,000 students who failed this year’s exams is the highest number recorded in Pakistan’s history.
The pass rates for Class IX exams were: 45% in History of Islam, 58% in General Math, 60% in General Science, 62% in Chemistry, 63% in Mathematics, 66% in Civics, and 69% in Physics. Students can apply for rechecking by August 24, with a fee of Rs 1,400.
