Pakistan Meteorological Office predicts widespread Monsoon Rains from 9th to 12th August.

The Pakistan Meteorological Office has forecasted more monsoon rains across the country, with strong monsoon currents expected to penetrate from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into upper and central regions from August 9th to 12th.

Regional Forecasts:

  • Kashmir: Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, and other areas will experience rain and thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls expected.
  • Punjab and Islamabad: Widespread rain and thunderstorms with scattered heavy falls are anticipated across several districts, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sargodha. Southern regions like Bahawalpur and Multan will see heavy falls on the 10th and 11th of August.
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Districts such as Swat, Peshawar, and Kohat are expected to witness rain and thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls.
  • Balochistan: Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for regions including Khuzdar, Lasbella, and the Makran coast, particularly on the 9th, 11th, and 12th of August.
  • Sindh: Isolated rain and thunderstorms are predicted for Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts from the 9th to the 11th of August.
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: Partly cloudy to cloudy weather with rainfall is expected in areas like Skardu and Gilgit during the forecast period.

Furthermore, the rains are expected with occasional gaps, potentially causing localised flooding in vulnerable areas.
