The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared Wednesday, August 14, 2024, a bank holiday in honor of Independence Day.
In a press release on Thursday, the SBP stated that all central bank branches, regional offices, public and private banks, and other financial institutions nationwide would be closed on that day.

The Government of Pakistan has declared this holiday to commemorate Independence Day as a public holiday across the country. Normal banking services will resume on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
This announcement aligns with the country’s annual tradition of celebrating its independence from British rule on August 14, 1947, with various events, including flag-hoisting, parades, and cultural activities, with public offices and institutions also observing the holiday.
