Imran Khan stands firm against deal-making in Adiala Jail conversation
During an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, reiterated his refusal to engage in any deal-making, highlighting his commitment to Pakistan.
“I am only speaking for Pakistan,” Khan stated, rejecting any notion of negotiating his release. “Keep me in jail as long as you want, I am not ready to make any deals. Only those who have committed crimes make deals.”
Moreover, Khan vehemently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that he has no assets or money stashed abroad. “I have fought all my cases and will continue to do so. The cases against me and my wife were meant to dismantle PTI.”
When questioned about the accusations related to the May 9 incidents, Khan dismissed the claims that PTI members were involved in the violence. “Those who set the fires were not our people; they were others whom I know.”
He criticised the judiciary for rushing through his cases, particularly the Toshakhana cases, where he claims his right to a fair hearing was violated. “The decisions were made in haste. When I was asked for my statement under Section 342, I wasn’t given a chance to speak afterward.”
On the issue of the May 9 incidents, Khan asserted that his instructions were for peaceful protests. “It is our constitutional right to protest peacefully. I told everyone to protest peacefully outside GHQ when I was arrested. But our peaceful protest was turned into an act of terrorism.”

Regarding the ongoing tensions with the establishment, Khan expressed a desire for peace and stability in the country but insisted on justice for the events of May 9. “There is only one way forward on May 9: we need justice.”
Khan dismissed comments by PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui, who suggested that the time for negotiations had passed. “I have plenty of time. It’s their time that is running out. This government has less than two months left.”
He also dismissed claims that he is seeking a pardon to avoid trial in military courts. “The only goal of these fools is to use the army to destroy PTI, but they will not succeed.”
When asked about the possibility of accepting elections under an interim setup, Khan expressed distrust in the Chief Election Commissioner. “The Chief Election Commissioner is the biggest fraudster. He rigged the elections before, and he will do it again. We will not accept any elections held under this setup and his supervision.”
Lastly, Khan clarified his message to the current Army Chief, urging him to remain apolitical and within constitutional bounds. “I only told the Army Chief to stay non-political and abide by the constitution. I did not ask him to be neutral—neutrality is for animals.”
