WEB DESK: A man facing financial distress took his own life in Dhok Sadu, Taxila, unable to pay a substantial electricity bill, sources revealed on Thursday.
The deceased, Malik Tahir, reportedly had a heated argument with his siblings over the unpaid electric bill, escalating into a serious dispute, according to family sources.
Tahir, a father of two, had been unemployed for the past four months, and the stress of the overdue electricity bill compounded his difficulties. On Wednesday, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
Local police handed over the body to the family after a post-mortem examination at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Taxila police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.

Earliet this week, in a heartbreaking incident, Razia Bibi, a 65-year-old woman suffering from a hernia, took her own life after using her treatment savings to pay an unexpected electricity bill, ARY News reported on Sunday.
Razia Bibi had diligently saved money for her hernia operation. However, when faced with an electricity bill of Rs 10,000, she felt compelled to use her medical savings to cover the cost.
According to police officials, Razia Bibi’s son, Usman, recounted that his mother had gone out to buy medicine but was deeply distressed by the financial setback. Overcome by despair, she jumped into a nearby drain.
