The government is evaluating the potential discontinuation of free electricity for officials and agencies, including bureaucrats, judges, and lawmakers, according to sources in the Ministry of Energy.
Responding to strong public and political pressure, the federal administration has agreed, in principle, to create an emergency plan within the Ministry of Energy.

The sources further added that the proposed plan may also include the eventual withdrawal of free petrol benefits in a later phase. The proposal also includes a potential reduction in Maximum Demand Indicator (MDI) charges for factories.
Furthermore, there is a plan to review the performance of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
