Pakistan’s top javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, made a strong return to competition at the Paris Diamond League after a year off. He finished fourth, an important step as he prepares for the Paris Olympics.
Nadeem’s first throw reached 74.11 meters, and he improved with each attempt. His second throw was 80.28 meters, and his third was 82.71 meters, putting him among the top contenders.
His fourth throw was 82.17 meters, briefly securing a top-three spot until Jacob Vadlejch surpassed him with an 85-meter throw.

Despite a good effort in the fifth round with an 84.21-meter throw, Nadeem couldn’t get back into the top three and finished fourth. This was his first international event since August 2023 after a knee injury that also kept him out of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
He had surgery in England and has been working hard to regain his fitness.
Nadeem will return to Lahore on July 8 for more training before heading back to Paris on July 24 to prepare for the Olympics. With about 12 days to get ready, he aims to perform his best at the Olympics on August 6.
His personal best throw is 90.18 meters, achieved at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where he showed his skill despite finishing fifth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
