WhatsApp has been gradually integrating AI features into its platform over the past few months, and now it is set to take a significant step forward with AI-generated images of users themselves.
This new feature, currently in beta testing, was recently spotted by WABetaInfo and promises to offer users an innovative way to interact with the app.
Previously, WhatsApp introduced Meta AI, a tool that enables users to generate images from text and chat with the AI for various queries.

While some see Meta’s AI chatbot as a gimmick to maintain user engagement, it certainly adds a novel dimension to the messaging service.
The latest beta version, 2.24.14.13, includes a feature that allows users to create images based on their own photos. The process requires a single image – a generic selfie – from which the Meta AI Llama model can generate a variety of images according to the user’s prompts within the WhatsApp app.
These AI-generated images can serve multiple purposes, from fun visualizations in different scenarios to practical uses like creating professional-looking headshots for profile pictures. The new feature can be accessed either within a chat or through the Meta AI section of the app.
