Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a series of significant projects for Gujranwala, including an Rs.18 billion Metrobus, the city’s first cardiac hospital, and a burns unit.

She also mandated the construction of roads, enhancement of parks, and improvements to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA). The ‘Pink Wheel’ project for women’s safety and measures to control inflation were also emphasised.

On Thursday, CM Maryam  outlined several major initiatives aimed at boosting Gujranwala’s infrastructure and services. The key highlight is the Gujranwala Metrobus Project, valued at Rs.18 billion, which will be accompanied by the city’s first state-of-the-art cardiac hospital and a new burns unit.

During her visit, she directed the immediate construction and repair of various roads, reiterating a promise made by former Chief Minister and current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in 2018 regarding the metrobus project.

CM Maryam  also emphasised the urgent completion of the Nigar Chowk Stadium and initiated steps to improve parks and beautify the city. She instructed officials to increase the number of field hospitals and mobile clinics, upgrade WASA, and ensure the city’s drains are clean.

She introduced the ‘Pink Wheel’ project to support women in Gujranwala. Women police officers will respond to complaints on pink bikes, ensuring swift action on police matters. The CM also focused on controlling inflation and reducing the prices of essential goods.

CM Maryam  highlighted the importance of regular road maintenance in rural areas and timely drainage during the monsoon season. She called for orderly parking of wheel-carts, installation of water filtration systems, streetlights, and manhole covers.

The ongoing operation against drug peddlers in Gujranwala will continue vigorously. Additionally, the government will provide food and drinks during Muharram.

She acknowledged the police for their efforts in eliminating kite flying and extortion. The CM also met with assembly members and PML-N candidates to discuss various issues, suggestions, and recommendations.

CM Maryam was briefed on the development projects and current municipal services in Gujranwala. The meeting included Information Minister Azma Bokhari, provincial minister Sohaib Ahmad Malik, Khurram Dastagir Khan, members of national and provincial assemblies, the chief secretary, the commissioner, and other officials.
