WEB DESK: On Tuesday, addressing the General Council meeting, Nawaz Sharif, President of Pakistan Muslim League (N), declared, “Saqib Nisar ousted me for a lifetime, but the workers have brought me back.” He challenged those who removed him to show the workers’ decision. “Today, Nawaz Sharif stands before you again.”

Questioning Disqualification

Nawaz Sharif questioned the reason behind his disqualification. He asked, “Why was the decision made when I did not take a salary from my son?” He emphasized, “Your son did not even ask for a salary.”

Praising Shehbaz Sharif

Nawaz Sharif praised his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif, saying, “I salute Shehbaz Sharif. Many ups and downs came, but Shehbaz Sharif proved himself in handling the party.” He recounted how Shehbaz Sharif rejected an offer to leave Nawaz Sharif and become Prime Minister.

Criticism of Treatment

Nawaz Sharif criticized the treatment of Maryam Nawaz, stating, “Maryam Nawaz was dragged out of jail in front of me.” He also commended Hamza Shehbaz’s bravery, who endured jail with courage.

Reflecting on Governance

Nawaz Sharif asserted, “Whenever the Muslim League came to power, we brought progress to the country. Those pulling the strings since 1947 are persecuting Pakistan.” He highlighted his government’s efforts, stating, “We worked hard. If those pulling the strings in 1990 did not interfere, the country would have been prosperous.”

Economic Conditions During Tenure

Nawaz Sharif mentioned the economic conditions during his tenure, saying, “In 2017, the dollar was at 104. I won’t talk about today or two years ago. In 2017, flour was Rs. 35 per kilogram, petrol was Rs. 65 per liter, and gold was Rs. 50,000 per tola.”

Credit for Karachi’s Peace

He claimed credit for Karachi’s peace, stating, “We restored peace in Karachi. We built motorways. We ended load shedding in 2016.”
