33 polling workers die from heatstroke in India

WEB DESK: 33 polling workers died in India from heatstroke on the final day of elections in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh (UP).

According to an election official from New Delhi, those who died in UP included security guards and sanitation workers. Indian media reports that for two days, 54 individuals involved in the electoral process have died due to the extreme heat in India.

Furthermore, Indian media mentioned that on Saturday, the temperature in Jhansi city reached 46.9 degrees Celsius.

According to Indian media, the heat index in Ballia city on Saturday recorded a dangerously high level of 61 degrees Celsius.
