100% more rainfall than usual expected in Karachi from July to August: PDMA

KARACHI: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has stated that there could be 100% more rainfall than usual from July to August in Karachi. There are 198 low-lying areas in Karachi where rainwater accumulates.

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi has requested a meeting of relevant institutions in anticipation of the monsoon season and has instructed them to arrange emergency plans.

A meeting was convened at the Commissioner’s office on Friday, attended by deputy commissioners from all districts of Karachi Division, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the Commissioner, Karachi Development Authority, town municipal corporations, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, traffic police, fire brigade, cantonments, and other relevant institutions.
