17-year-old fatally shot by security guard after refusing garbage pickup

KARACHI: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was shot dead by a security guard for refusing to pick up garbage.

The harrowing event occurred on Friday in the North Karachi area of the metropolis. According to police, an argument ensued between the security guard, identified as Ramazan, and the victim, Samad, over the latter’s refusal to pick up trash. The suspect, who is employed by a private security company, became enraged and shot Samad in the stomach.

Samad was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The accused guard fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities have registered a case against Ramazan and are conducting raids to apprehend him.

This incident follows a similar tragedy on June 4, where a YouTuber named Saad Ahmed was killed by a security guard while filming a vlog outside the Sarina Mobile Mall in Karachi.
